A Christmas Nativity

Apparently here in England, there is no need to separate church and state. Christmas is very loved here and the schools do what they can to celebrate this time of year, including putting on a Christmas Nativity. Kimball came home from school one day singing, "See saw, creep up the door, Jesus was born in a stable". I asked him where he learned the song and he told me he learned it at school and that it was one of the songs for the Nativity play that he was in. I thought it was a little odd that he was learning about Jesus at school (not that I mind), because in October when we asked about what the class does for Halloween, we were told they are not allowed to even mention Halloween because of people's different beliefs. I guess Jesus, who represents peace and love is okay, but witches and monsters, who could represent evil are not okay. I'm assuming that's the reason, but I'm not sure. Anyway, Kimball informed me that he was to be a King in the play and we needed to find him a costume. This was a little stressful, because 1)I just had a baby, 2)I have no idea where a fabric store is here, and 3)I don't even have my sewing maching here. Luckily my visiting teacher told me that you can buy all the Nativity costumes, including a camel, at Woolworths. Before we could get to Woolworths, Kimball's teacher told us not to worry about a costume (I was already a few days late getting it), Kimball could just borrow a costume from the morning class. Yeah! I didn't have to do a thing. Kimball's production was on December 13, and he was a hit. Here are some of the pictures.

The Three Kings are walking to find the baby Jesus.

They're pointing to the star that is guiding them to Jesus.

They arrive to finally see the baby Jesus.

Kneeling next to Mary and adoring the new babe. You can't tell me that's not the most adorable King there's ever been.

What a wonderful scene!

Such cute pictures, and I'm almost a little envious of the whole nativity pageant! Erick's preschool did one last year that was adorable, but it was a lutheran school. I missed it this year at his public-school kindergarten. Merry Christmas!
