Violin Camp

This past week, Kimball enjoyed his first experience with violin camp.  We signed him up with the Timpanogos Chamber Orchestra for their annual Strings Camp.  It was held at Mt. Ridge Junior High in Highland on Monday through Friday from 9am to noon.  I was a little nervous at how well he would do.  Although he's playing the violin really well, this was his first exposure to playing in an orchestra.  He loved it!  They worked on about five different songs that he had very little time to learn.  They had a concert on Friday night to show what they'd learned during the week.  I couldn't see Kimball very well, because he was in the back behind everyone else, but I was very impressed with how his orchestra played.  We're thinking about having him join the group during the year.  They get together every Saturday for an hour from September to November and from January to March.  I think he'd enjoy it and it would be good for him, I'm just not sure I ready to give up some of my Saturdays to do it.  Is that too selfish of me?

Oh my goodness...he looks so much older and bigger! What a cutie. Sounds like a fun experience.

I was really proud of Kimball. Seeing him play in the orchestra sure brought back some memories of when I used to do it. I think their orchestra sounded a lot better than mine.
