Belize, Day 1

Clark and I just got back from an amazing trip to Belize.  Why Belize?  Some friends of ours know someone with a house down there.  She let us stay there for free.  We had a great time.  Here are the highlights from day 1: Our flight left at midnight on Wednesday the 18th.  We flew to Altanta and then to Belize City.  From there we took a taxi to the water taxi where we got on a boat for an hour boat ride to the island called Ambergris Caye.  We stayed at the Miramar Villas in San Pedro.

We were starving when we first arrived, so we headed to the nearest restaurant, Mr. Joe's, and had some lunch.  

Can you tell we'd been traveling all night?  I'm looking rather pale and tired.  

Clark, Dave, and Jeremy couldn't wait to get out into the water, so they did some snorkeling that afternoon by the palapa.

The girls hung out by the pool.

We headed into town for dinner.  We ate at the Pupuseria, where they make pupusas.  They are similar to tamales, but they're round and a lot better.  I got mine with pork, beans, and cheese.  They were yummy.

First, my apologies for the not so great pictures at Chuck E. Cheese.  I'm still trying to figure out photography indoors without a great flash. Man, Chuck E. Catch Up, Part 2

These events aren't in chronological order. They're just in the order of the way the pictures uploaded to the post. House & Yard: After four years of living in this house, we've finally gotten around to finishing the yard. We built this house, so we had to start from scratch. We were doing a little at a time. Every year when we'd get our taxes back, we'd do something big on the yard. This year we decided to bite the bullet and just get the rest finished, and I am so glad we did. We had grass in the back, but that was it. No fence, no playground, no trampoline, no borders, no patio. Here's what the back of the house looked like before: We knew we always wanted a deck, so we finally had our neighbor build us one. When it was almost finished, our boys didn't like to go out on the deck because their feet got too hot (it's west facing). So we decided to have our neighbor add a roof to the deck. The last time we got our family pictures taken was over three years ago when Sammy was a baby. Needless to say, we were overdue. Haley Warner took our pics, and I think they turned out darling.
