One of the main reasons I haven't kept in touch with the world for the past 7 weeks or so, is because we've been finishing our basement, and things have been crazy around here. Okay, I haven't been finishing the basement. We paid someone to do it for us. Chelsea construction, our neighbor, did a great job.
Some before pictures, just when the work was starting:

The after pictures:

We have a storage room down there where we put our washer & dryer. This is just one wall that we can use for storage. I am so excited for our things to actually have their own space.

This is the main room, where we now have the kids' toys and things. It has been great to just send the boys downstairs to play. No toys are allowed upstairs. I love it.

Another view of the main family area. We're getting some white cabinets built in where the TV is. It will be a little built-in media center.

One of the two bathrooms we put in downstairs. I think it's beautiful. I wish my upstairs bathrooms were similar.

We also added three bedrooms downstairs. One of which is used by Clark for his office (since he works from home). Let me tell you how excited I am that his office is no longer in our bedroom. I can send him downstairs too.

And last is my favorite part of the basement, the fireplace. I really stressed about this stone and the squares to go in them. It turned out perfect.
We love our downstairs, and everything about it. I love the carpet. I love how much storage space we have. I love our new TV and surround sound. I love that my laundry is downstairs and out of the way. I love that we nearly doubled the size of our house.

Yay!!! I am totally waiting for my movie night invite when that tv room is all done! :-)
The saving grace of our home here is the basement. All the toys are downstairs keeping the main floor relatively clean and it allows me to send the boys away and give us all a break from each other on days we are all home. I think will all the snow days this year, if we didn't have a basement, we all would have gone CrAzY!
PS Thank you for the email about little Josie. We have been keeping her and Angee and family in our prayers.
