Dutch Babies
I've had a couple of comments on Dutch Babies. I learned about these from Clark's family. They had them for breakfast on special occassions. We've also heard them called German Pancakes, Apple Pancukken (or something like that), and the family that came over to eat with us has had something similar to it called Yorkshire Pudding. We really love them, and they're actually pretty easy to make. If I can make them over here, you all can make them there. So here's the recipe:
Dutch Babies
1 c. milk
2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3 T sugar
1/2 tsp. lemon peel
2 T butter, melted (don't be skimpy)
Put the butter in a round cake pan (at least that's what we have and use here, I think the recipe says to use a 9" pie plate), and let it melt in the oven while it's warming up to 400 degrees. Put all the other ingredients in a blender and process at Whip Speed. Pour batter into pan and bake. The sides will come up super high while baking, don't be alarmed. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until puffy and golden brown. (It only takes 20-25 minutes here in our oven, which we think is a convection oven.) You can put apple filling in the center, but we like it best with butter, a little lemon juice, and powdered sugar. Clark likes his with butter and syrup. Serve while they're warm. Try it and let me know what you think.
If you'd like more info, go to wikipedia.org and type in dutch baby pancakes.

I don't know if I'm doing this right, but I'm so happy to connect with you and your darling little family. A girl, yea!!! I'll bet you are having a great experience in jolly old England. My nephew Jason just got called to the London England South mission. I would love to go there and pick him up when he's finished. When Joe served in England he brought us back some custard. It is to die for. If you get a good recipe please share it with me. I am excited to try your new recipe. I'll let you know how it goes. We are going to be visiting your mom and dad soon as we are hopefully going to pull off a combination FHE and barbecue shortly with a few of our old friends. Our trip with them to San Diego was so fun! Thanks for finding me. We love you guys!
