Grandma Shill

It's possible that I may start blogging consistently again, but don't count on it. So, I'll post when I feel the urge, which is now.

Grandma Shill and my boys

Over Fall Break we went to the 100 degree weather of Arizona. Other than the fact that Addi was sick (with what we think was an infection of some sort), we had a great time. It was very relaxing. So relaxing in fact that we hardly did anything. The kids didn't read, do homework, or practice violin. We let them watch show after show, including a medley of the Care Bear Shows, which my grandma owned on VHS. They loved it, and we brought it home with us. Clark, my mom, and I played Settlers five times. Clark won the first two, my mom won the 3rd and 4th, and I won the last game.

Kimball, Addi, Sammy, and Grandma Shill in front of Grandpa Shill's grave. We had that little orange tree planted behind his grave. We knew he'd want it there. It had a few green oranges on it.

Our main purpose for going to Arizona was to visit my grandma, Grandma Shill. She is 93 years old, and you just never know how long she is going to be around, although her family is from Yugoslavia and they're a pretty stubborn people, so she'll probably be around for years to come. My children adore her and were so happy to be with her. I love her as well. Some of my fondest memories as a child include times with Grandma and Grandpa Shill. My grandpa passed away nine years ago. He was an amazing man. I don't know anyone who worked harder than my grandpa. Grandma Shill is a funny lady. She loves reading the paper, watching baseball games, and reading romance novels. Her memory isn't as great as it used to be, but she still has great stories to tell. (You may just hear the same story a few times within a short time).

I love that you went there to visit her. I am sure that she loved it too!
Great pictures, AJ. Thx, it WAS fun!!! Even with the scorpion.......well, maybe not. She's a tough old broad (her own words). She'll be around a while. I'm proud to be 1/2 bo-hunk! :)
BTW--glad you're blogging again!

The other day while Anna and Sophia were playing I heard Anna say, "I am so old that I am going to die." To which Sophia replied, "Ok Grandma Shill."

I think I enjoyed the trip more than anyone else, I just really enjoyed the free time to play with the boys and Addi. Not to mention some extra games of Settlers of Catan which we hadn't played in so long.
